Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Maintain your car's battery

2

A lot of car owners take their car's battery life for granted and fail to understand there are a number of things an owner can do to keep it in tip top condition. See our simple steps below for what to look for when inspecting your battery and how to keep it clean.

  • Begin with the simple: keeping your battery clean. A dirty case can actually cause current to drain. Wipe with a damp rag. Use a mild detergent if necessary.
  • Next, clean the battery posts or terminals. Loosen and remove the negative cable (black or minus sign) first, then the red positive cable. Use a brass wire battery brush dipped in a paste made from a few tablespoons of baking soda and a little water.
  • Inspect the battery case for damage, such as cracks or bulges — signs that a battery needs to be replaced.
  • Reinstall the cables, positive first, and coat the terminals and clamps with a thin coating of grease to prevent new corrosion.

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Choose a good car insurer

1

Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, disaster inevitably strikes — typically in the form of an accident. Make sure that your car will be repaired to the best possible standard by finding an insurer that will pay for parts from the original manufacturer and guarantee the repairs it authorizes.

Experience the Digital Thrill of Juke Nismo, Then Drive it for Real

Players of a new update of Asphalt 7: Heat can now test the Nissan Juke Nismo and the Juke-R to the limit in the digital world and win the chance to be one of the first to drive the new Juke Nismo for real. Winners will also get a high speed thrill ride in the Juke-R, experiencing its cult appeal first hand.

The latest update of the popular mobile driving game - already downloaded by 50,000,000 people - allows owners of iOS and Android smartphone/tablets to take the wheel of two ultra-desirable Nissan models: the exciting new Juke Nismo and the thrilling 545bhp Juke-R.

To celebrate the release, Nissan and Gameloft are launching a competition to find the fastest online drivers, with the winners receiving a VIP trip to Barcelona to drive the Juke Nismo for real.

What's more, players using the Apple iOS platform have the chance to download the game for free on December 8th and 9th.

The collaboration between Nissan and Gameloft reinforces a growing link between Nissan and the gaming industry. The highly successful GT Academy - run in association with Sony Computer Entertainment - offers Gran Turismo players the once in a lifetime opportunity to become real racing drivers. Now in its fourth season, the GT Academy has successfully turned a number of drivers from online racers to professional racing drivers. The most recent winner, Belgian competitor Wolfgang Reip, is currently on an intensive Driver Development Program before racing at the 24H Dubai in January 2013.

Asphalt 7: Heat is the only game to offer players the chance to drive both the Juke-R and the Juke Nismo. The former has become one of the most talked-about Nissan models ever, combining elements from two of the brand's most innovative cars - the GT-R and the Juke compact crossover. Powered by a 545bhp engine, the Juke-R is estimated to take only 3.0 seconds to get from 0-100kph and maximum speed tipped to be 275kph.

The Juke Nismo offers drivers enhanced dynamics and performance in a highly innovative package. Equipped with a 1.6-liter direct injection turbocharged (DIG-T) engine, the Nissan Juke Nismo delivers 200PS and 250Nm of torque. It also features a specially developed aerodynamics package that gives the Juke an even more efficient, dynamic and powerful design. The kit comprises lower front and rear bumpers, wider wings and sill side skirts, along with a modified grille and tailgate spoiler that controls airflow over the rear of the car. The sporty theme is continued inside where the seats, steering wheel, pedals, gauges, gear knob and door trims have been redesigned. To further underline the performance personality of the car, special suede-trimmed Nismo sports seats with red stitching have been added, along with Alcantara trim for the steering wheel.

Set to go on sale early next year, the Juke Nismo's appearance in the update of Asphalt 7: Heat allows gamers to drive the car before anyone else.

Both Jukes have been painstakingly modeled in order to take their thrills into the virtual world, putting millions of gamers into the driving seat.

Players will be able to race on a special Nissan Race Track, in Tokyo, which features a section where drivers pass the Nismo Omori factory.

To enter, players must first register their details via an app on the Gameloft facebook page or through the game and then drive a Nissan Juke Nismo in the Asphalt Academy game mode. A leaderboard will record the times of the fastest drivers in with a chance of winning the top prize. The competition runs from December 17th to 31st 2012, then two winners will be selected at random (one iOS and one Android) from the top ten quickest drivers in each of the competing countries (UK, Spain, Germany, France, Russia).

All 10 lucky winners will then be invited on a VIP trip to Barcelona to drive the Nissan Juke Nismo for real.

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Is your battery juiced?

3

Winter puts more stress on your battery, particularly if you park your car outdoors. Avoid the sinking feeling of hearing nothing when you hit the ignition with a proactive check of your battery and charging system now. Repair shops don't usually charge very much to load-test your battery, and some car-parts stores will do it for free. If you find out your battery's going south, you can replace it at your convenience, instead of being at the mercy of whomever your dead car's been towed to. Note that some big-box stores such as Costco offer a good price on batteries for those of you willing to change one yourself (not usually all that hard, though batteries are heavy.)

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Consolidate your short driving trips

3

Consolidate your short driving trips. Most of the wear and tear — as well as the pollution your car generates — takes place in the first few minutes of driving. Doing several errands at once, during low traffic hours if possible, will keep your engine happier longer.

Nissan Leave could mean HOV lane for some...

Did you know that an incredible 60 percent of Nissan Leaf buyers so far are in California? Los Angeles is now the unexpected leading city, taking over from early front-runner San Francisco.

In California, 'clean energy vehicles' such as electric cars, natural gas and fuel-cell vehicles are eligible to drive in the HOV lane with only one person in the car! Maybe we will see this in other states soon too!

Tennessee Family Accepts Keys to Nissan-Sponsored Habitat for Humanity Home

Mg_4624

Today, at a dedication ceremony conducted by Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County, Nissan Director Erich Marx presented the keys to the latest Nissan-sponsored Habitat home to owner Kimisha Edwards. The ceremony in Franklin included a group of Nissan employees representing their 200 peer volunteers who built the Edwards home over the past five weeks.

"Nissan's corporate vision is to enrich people's lives, and what better way to support a local family than through partnering with them to build their own home," said Marx, director of Interactive and Social Media Marketing.  "Nissan is a longstanding sponsor of Habitat, whose humanitarian and environmental commitments align well with our own.  We were honored to work alongside Kimisha on her family's new home."

For several years Edwards has worked as a caregiver for Waves, a special needs care facility in Franklin.  She has ambitions to further her education, specializing in special needs care.  Edwards has also been working to contribute her own "sweat equity" hours to her home's construction.

"This is a blessing, especially after losing a child.  I never thought I would be a home owner," said Edwards. "‘Thank you' isn't enough to show what you all are doing for my family.  My sponsors are helping me accomplish a dream."

Edwards, who lost her youngest daughter due to complications following surgery in August, will move with her two children, ages 5 and 11, from Nashville to their new neighborhood near downtown Franklin.

Edwards' home is the 132nd home built by Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County since the organization was incorporated as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in 1992.  The home is the sixth house built by Nissan in Williamson County.

"Kimisha's home will be a safe, comfortable place for her family," said John Besser, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County. "We are extremely grateful to have a partner like Nissan that shares our commitment to building homes, hope and community in Williamson County.  The employees from Nissan who come on site are a joy to work with."

The Nissan-sponsored Habitat home is equipped with many "green living" features, including low-flowing plumbing fixtures, programmable thermostats, energy-efficient fluorescent lighting, high-performance windows and ENERGY STAR® appliances. These eco-friendly amenities align with Nissan's Green Program, which supports efforts to reduce the company's impact on the environment.

Funding for Edwards' home is part of the $1.5 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International that Nissan announced in September 2012. In the Americas, Nissan will fund the construction of homes in Arizona, California, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Toronto, Canada. The company is funding grants and providing Nissan vehicles to 10 Habitat affiliates that make commitments to sustainable construction practices. Habitat will use a portion of Nissan's donation to conduct sustainability "summits" for Habitat affiliates and their local communities. Nissan funding also supports the annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Haiti in November 2012, when six Nissan employees will join 500 international volunteers to help build 100 Habitat homes in partnership with Haitian families during the seven-day project.

Nissan's partnership with Habitat dates to 2005, following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Nissan donated 50 Nissan Titan trucks to assist Habitat's response efforts in the Gulf Coast and mobilized employees to assist in home building. Since 2006, Nissan employees have helped to build more than 40 homes across the United States and have logged more than 70,000 volunteer hours building Habitat homes around the world.

Monday Maintenance Tip! Winter is coming!

Happy Monday! Are you someone who hates washing your car? The most critical time to keep giving your car a bath in mind is winter!  All that sand, slush, and ice mixed with road salt is exactly what makes your car rust. The fastest corrosion occurs when the temperature repeatedly rises above and then falls below freezing. Keep that in mind this winter and maybe stop by your local car wash to keep your car looking sparkling new for the warmer seasons!

2014 Nissan GT-R To Gain Improved Ride Quality, More Responsive Engine

2014-nissan-gtr

While now power will be added to the 545-hp engine, Nissan is promising improved mid-range and high-rpm responsiveness with new high-output injectors. Other upgrades include a new release valve for the turbocharger bypass as well as a new oil pan baffle for reduced rotational friction and more stable oil pressure.

On the handling side, Nissan has improved chassis rigidity with new reinforcements to the dash panel bar and instrument panel bar. Suspension adjustments then include new spring and shock settings plus a new front sway bar and new cam bolts to improve camber accuracy. These changes are designed to deliver more responsive handling, while also a more comfortable ride.

In addition, engineers have improved the strength where the driveshafts meets the hub bearings for improved reliability.

All updates are the result of continued testing and, specifically, from this year’s Nurburgring 24 Hour race.

Set to go on sale this Sprign in Europe as a 2013 model, these updates will arrive in the GT-R in North America later for the 2014 model year.

Monday Maintenance Tip!

Merry Monday Maintenance tip! To help maintain the beautiful interior of your car try to park in the shade as much as possible. If a parking garage or shady spot is not usually available for you, grab a sunshade to keep in your front window. This will also help keep your car little cooler in the summer time!

Car shades come in two basic types: those that you unfold and place on the front windshield and rear window, or pleated types that attach to the windshield posts with adhesive, Velcro or suction cups.

Meet the Mum Who's Made EV History

Nissanleafmumevoct24

NORWAY – When young Norwegian mum Solveig Marie Ødegård decided she had to learn to drive to transport her new family around, she went to a local driving school, took some lessons and passed her test.

So far so normal. What makes Solveig Marie's story so very different is that she took those lessons and passed the test in an electric car, a Nissan LEAF.

She has never, in her entire life, driven a car powered by a gasoline or diesel engine.

Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer highlighted her story at the Paris Motor Show, where he told journalists she was the first of many. "There will come a time – five, ten, 15 years down the track – when every new driver will have driven only an electric vehicle," he said.

Norway is one of the most EV friendly nations of all. Keen to promote the benefits of zero emission mobility, Norway not only exempts buyers from paying purchase tax and 25% VAT on new cars, but drivers are also given free parking and access to bus lanes at all times. Nor do they have to pay for toll roads while capital Oslo has one of the most comprehensive charging networks of any major city.

Little wonder, then, that the Nissan LEAF is among the country's most popular new cars and why Oslo's ABC Trafikkskole – the driving school where Solveig Marie was a pupil – has a LEAF on its fleet.

For Solveig Marie, the LEAF was a revelation. "First I looked at this (learning to drive) as a duty, since someone in this family needed to be able to drive. However from the first moment I got into the car I discovered that it was incredible fun. So much fun that I almost felt ashamed for enjoying myself."

Armed with her driving license, Solveig Marie drove away from her local Nissan dealer in a brand new LEAF that, she said, was even better than the one she drove in school…"because it's mine!"

Monday Maintenance Tip!

It's time for the  Monday maintenance tip! Does your car key share a chain with a dozen or more other keys?

That’s a pretty heavy load hanging off the ignition. The weight, combined with bouncing while you drive, can wear out the tumblers inside the ignition and eventually lead to ignition switch failure. Drive with only the ignition key in your ignition. If your ignition key “sticks” when you try to turn on the car, it’s a warning that your ignition switch is about to fail. Replace it before you get stranded. Stay safe out there!

Nissan EXTREM: Tough on the Streets

98142_10_5

SÃO PAULO, Brazil – The vibrancy, color and excitement of Brazil has been captured in Nissan EXTREM, a radical concept car aimed squarely at young (and young-at-heart) car enthusiasts keen to make a statement on the roads.

EXTREM has been created especially for Brazil. It has been designed for and built in the country and has its world debut at the 27th São Paulo International Motor Show (October 24 – November 4).

"Brazil is a country of great natural beauty and it has a passionate, rich culture. But this is not always reflected in the cars on its streets, especially the more affordable locally produced vehicles which tend to be conservative in design, color and specification," said Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer.

"EXTREM, with a dynamic, high-character design, is far from conservative. It was created to appeal to the country's growing band of city-based young professionals who are passionate about design and want to make a personal statement. The lightweight two-door 2+2, has a dynamic stance, fresh surfacing, and a clear rugged ability to tackle the urban jungle everyday," he added.

Designed by Nissan Design America (NDA) in San Diego, California, in collaboration with Brazilian designers and produced in Brazil, the concept previews a new breed of car. By blending versatility and toughness with the agility of a compact 2+2, EXTREM is a new genre of urban compact sports car.

Its unveiling at the São Paulo Motor Show underscores Nissan's commitment to Brazil. The country is one of the largest new car markets in the world and one in which Nissan enjoys significant sales growth. The company claimed almost two per cent of the 2011 market, doubling its 2010 sales, and aims to account for five per cent of new car sales in Brazil by 2016.

Nissan's investment in Brazil includes an all-new manufacturing facility in Resende in the state of Rio de Janeiro, which is scheduled to start production in the first half of 2014. When operating at its full potential, the plant will produce 200,000 units annually.

Although strictly a concept car with no immediate plans for production, elements of EXTREM's styling offers a glimpse into future Nissan products, for Brazil and beyond.

"We have created EXTREM to show how serious we are about Brazil. EXTREM is provocative, energetic and engaging and it reflects the passion, innovation and excitement we put into all our cars," said Christian Meunier, President of Nissan Brazil.

Nissan EXTREM in detail
Right from the early stages of its development, the design team behind EXTREM was clear about the direction the concept should take. "We call it Baby Beast," said Robert Bauer, Senior Design Manager for the project at NDA. "We see it as an urban rally car, a tough little street fighter that can handle the urban jungle with agility and confidence."

From the outset it was considered vitally important that design inspiration should come from Brazil itself. Although the NDA design team is based in San Diego, creative time on the project was spent mostly in São Paulo. The NDA designers managed the project remotely from San Diego and developed clay and digital models using local resources in São Paolo.

The result is an exotic and distinctive concept for a new genre of compact sport vehicle with a unique silhouette. The lower half of the body and raised ground clearance expresses its strength, while the sharply sloping roof line suggests its sporting intention. The combination of innovative elements such as the wraparound glass, floating roof rails and detached C pillars enhance the feeling of an open, airy cabin.

The body's shape and surfaces exude a feeling of strength and agility with muscular fender volume defined by sharp creases. Overlapping panels and unique surface interplays create a feeling of layered armored toughness.

Showing EXTREM also has a practical side to its nature, the roof rails incorporate cleats for load carrying, while the unique see-through A-pillar structure provides enhanced outward visibility.

Both the headlamps and tail lamps feature Nissan's signature graphics and advanced LED technology. Bracketing the glass hatch, the rear lights have high-tech layered fins, showcasing an airy, lightweight structure. A prominent aluminum skid plate, embossed to add strength, houses the centrally mounted exhaust.

Although clearly a tough little street fighter, quality craftsmanship and attention to detail can be found throughout the car. Examples include flush mounted door handles, integrated side marker lamps, lightweight fender-mounted mirrors and the flush A- and B-pillars which create a seamless canopy.

A compact 2+2, EXTREM has a dedicated luggage space in the rear. A clever two-tier system provides secure storage, where items can be hidden from prying eyes beneath an exposed and removable cargo bin which is accessed via the rear hatch. The bin is designed for day-to-day items and fits neatly underneath a structural cross brace that adds extra stiffness to the shell and accentuates the sporting nature of the car.

The exclusive Solar Cortex body color, a deep metallic orange with radiant highlights, pays homage to Brazilian nature. Brightly colored accents provide ‘pops' of energy and can also be found on the gas cap, tow hook and the wheels, adding to the urban rally car theme.

The roof pattern, a mix of gloss and matte textures, is inspired by iconic Brazilian graphics.

Six-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels are double layered with a dark inner and brushed metal outer and provide enhanced cooling to the brakes.

Showcasing the versatility of Nissan's acclaimed V-platform – used by the Nissan March – dimensionally EXTREM is taller, wider and longer than the global city car.

EXTREM's dimensions are:

Wheelbase: 2450mm

Height: 1530mm

Length: 3850mm

Width: 1765mm

EXTREM's power would be provided by Nissan's advanced direct injection and turbocharged (DIG-T) 1.6-liter gasoline engine which shares its technology concept with the powertrain in the innovative Nissan DeltaWing Le Mans race car. EXTREM could also be offered with a choice of front or four-wheel drive with Torque Vectoring for enhanced handling capabilities.

"EXTREM suggests that exotic and exciting design need not just be reserved for expensive cars. It shows that innovative, sophisticated design can be made in a clever, attainable way. EXTREM is one of our answers to this possibility and it opens an exciting new chapter in our design relationship with Brazil," said Nakamura.

Maintenance Tip #4

We have a great Monday Maintenance tip for you today... Tip #4 - Don’t fill up if you see the tanker.
If you happen to see a gasoline tanker filling the tanks at your local gas station, come back another day or go to a different station. As the station’s underground tanks are being filled, the turbulence can stir up sediment. Sediment in your gas can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors, causing poor performance and possibly necessitating repairs.

Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt - Nissan's Director of Excitement

97547_1_5

Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man and champion Olympic sprinter, is targeting another record-breaking performance by offering his passion and performance instincts to the Nissan team developing a special "Bolt" version GT-R.

Following his world records and medal-horde at the London Olympiad, Bolt today signed a special deal with Nissan Motor Co, Ltd, to extend his role as brand ambassador for the 196-mph GT-R and to become honorary "Director of Excitement" for the company's ambitious global marketing drive.

Bolt, appearing at Nissan's world headquarters, said: "Racing is my inspiration, and I want to help Nissan become an even more exciting brand for everyone."

Toshiyuki Shiga, Chief Operating Officer, welcomed Bolt's endorsement and deepening ties with Nissan - where he became a brand spokesman on the eve of the London Games. "Nissan shares the spirit of excitement that captivated worldwide audiences at the Olympics. There is no-one better qualified than Usain Bolt to help us translate that spirit into great experiences," said Shiga.

In recognition of Bolt's contribution to sports and his automotive enthusiasm, Nissan's Chief Operating Officer unveiled a unique gold-painted GT-R, which will be auctioned to benefit the Usain Bolt Foundation.

Proceeds from the online auction, details which will be announced later in October, will help the foundation's work creating educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in the Olympic Champion's home country of Jamaica.

The one-off GT-R, to be auctioned on the eBay online auction platform, will be embossed with Bolt's signature and bespoke interior fittings finished in real gold.

News of the deepening Nissan relationship coincides with Bolt's pledge to defend his titles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

As part of Bolt's partnership with Nissan, the sprinter today test-drove various GT-R models at the car company's proving ground near Oppama, Japan, where his reaction times, acceleration and other handling capabilities will be used in developing a special "Bolt GT-R" for his personal use.

Additionally, Bolt will start work with Nissan product specialists on a limited-edition version which can be ordered in markets where GT-R is available. Details of this project will be announced at a later stage.

Bolt, who was collected from Tokyo's Narita Airport in a GT-R driven by F1 racer Mark Webber, is expected to contribute further to Nissan's "WHAT IF_" global brand campaign.

The campaign, featuring Nissan's iconic products and breakthrough technologies in billboards at airports around the world, forms part of the company's Power 88 mid-term business plan - aimed at capturing 8 per cent market share and 8 per cent operating margins.

To continue building brand momentum at Nissan, TV commercials featuring the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle, called "What if you could drive the future, today?", will also be aired via six major international TV networks starting in October 2012.

Earlier this year, Interbrand reported Nissan's rise in its latest report of the world's Top 100 brands: ‘2012 Best Global Brands'. In the ranking, Nissan rose 13 places on the prior-year report to rank 73rd in global brand value.

Nissan Showcar Promises Your Admiration for Design at Sao Paulo Motor Show

Sao_paulo_teaser

Bold, vibrant, passionate … and that's just the color!

Be prepared for some real drama from Nissan when Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., reveals a new concept car at the 27th Sao Paulo International Motor Show (October 24 - November 4).

The high-character concept will introduce a unique new genre to the automotive world. The vehicle has been created specifically for the Sao Paulo show with Brazilian designers. Built in Brazil, it underlines the strategic importance of Brazil for Nissan's growth plans.

Nissan doubled its sales to claim almost 2% of the Brazilian market in 2011 and aims to account for more than 5% of new car sales in the country by 2016. This goal is backed by a new manufacturing facility that is currently under construction in Resende which will produce up to 200,000 units when operations start in 2014.

"The showcar will dazzle on two counts," said Nakamura. "It is a genuinely new and exciting concept, and it will explode with energetic design and impressive color that fully express our impression toward the country. When our designers arrived in Brazil to start work on the project, they loved the vibrancy and passion of the country but were a little surprised in the rather conservative colors of the cars on the streets. They all seemed to be monochrome - silver or black. Finally, they've made sure our showcar might have a color as lively as the country."

Extend the Life of Your Car: Tip #1

2012-10-15_1610

Be patient during the break-in period

You’ve bought your dream car and now you want to make it last at long as possible in top condition. Here are some things to remember as you pull it out of the dealer’s lot:

  • During the break-in period, typically the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km), keep your speed under 55 mph (88 kpm) or to the speed recommended by your car’s manufacturer.
  • Avoid heavy loads on the drive train, such as towing trailers, and loading the roof rack or trunk with heavy construction materials.
  • Do not allow your new car to idle for long periods — this is good advice for the life of your car, but especially during breakin. The oil pressure generated by doing so may not be sending oil to every part of your engine.
  • Use only light to medium acceleration, keeping the engine rpms below 3,000 for the first few hours of driving.

Charging CEATEC

Bup_dft_dft-5-1

CHIBA, Japan – There's a growing trend in consumer electronics and IT: cars.

Japan's largest showcase of electronics and information technology, CEATEC, kicked off with three carmakers displaying products in which mobility, electronics and IT intersect.

This is Nissan's sixth year at CEATEC, where market-ready technologies and those capturing a glimpse of the distant future converge.

Last year Mitsubishi joined; this year it's Toyota with a new concept called "Smart INSECT", a single-seater, mini EV that uses motion detectors to recognize a driver's behavior.

"The increased presence of automakers at CEATEC not only underscores the importance of information technology and electronics for autos, but also greater potential for collaboration between the auto industry and the electronics industry."

With 70% of electric vehicles comprised of electronic parts, one might consider cars the biggest of consumer electronics.

Said Nissan COO Toshiyuki Shiga, "The distance between appliance companies and electricity management and the automotive industry is closing more and more."

Nissan proves that, powering its lights and stage with LEAF batteries. That technology debuted last year in Nissan's LEAF-to-Home exhibit, after 3/11 underscored the need for alternate power sources for the community.

Nissan is looking to solve other problems, including traffic congestion and accidents.

The NSC-2015 is focused on time management and security, said Toru Futami, Expert Leader for Nissan's IT & ITS Development department.

"With 90% of accidents caused by human error, we aimed to make a machine that could reduce error to as close to zero as possible and prevent an accident before it happens. Another objective was to reduce time-loss, such as that spent on looking for parking. That can be about 10 minutes lost door-to-door, when all you need to do is get to the entrance," said Futami.

To save you time, the NSC-2015 parks itself and returns to pick you up. A smartphone connected to the Automated Valet Parking technology allows a driver to maintain full control, remotely.

And a new feature to catch any unsuspecting thief by surprise, an all-around view camera can react to suspicious behavior and alert the driver. The driver can then opt to set off an alarm.

As its name suggests, the NSC-2015 will be fully viable by 2015. By then, who knows, the car might even be able to make an arrest.

Nissan Social Experience at Paris Motor Show

96698_1_5

Experience, interact and share - Nissan is taking the excitement of a global Motor Show online through a series of socially enabled experiences. From on-stand RFID activation points to a live Google+ Hangout with the creator of the awe-inspiring Nissan DeltaWing, a full spectrum of social activities will include millions in the Paris Motor Show conversation.

The day before the show even opens to the media, Nissan fans will get unprecedented access by taking part in a Google+ Hangout broadcast live from the Paris Show stand on Wednesday, September 26 at 3 p.m. CET. Members of the online community will be able to login to the live video broadcast and pose their own questions to the man who is challenging every aspect of race car design.

Once the doors to the show are open, no fewer than twelve individual RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) activation points will be available on the Nissan stand. Through a simple sign-up process, visitors can easily link their on-stand experience with friends via their Facebook account by using a hands-free passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID system created by Dwinq, a social-media technology company based in Massachusetts.

Four bespoke experiences have also been created for visitors who register for automated social media sharing using the RFID platform. Each person will receive a personalized VIP card and lanyard, allowing them to design their own car, create a sound for the Nissan LEAF and appear on the front cover of a magazine via the Micra experience.  Stand visitors will also be able to see themselves on a digitally created picture of Times Square in a special Nissan NV200 New York Taxi application.

David Parkinson, General Manager Social & Digital Engagement for Nissan in Europe, explained: "Our customers expect us to be bold with technology and social media, so we wanted to create a series of show experiences which were exciting and socially shareable.  Through the personalized RFID experiences, we are really excited to have created a truly socially interactive stand throughout which we're confident our show visitors will love."

In addition to the millions of Google+ users who will have the opportunity to be part of Ben Bowlby's Hangout, up to 10,000 people are expected to participate in Nissan's interactive experiences first hand, during the two-week show.

Keep up the great service Zeke!

PreSale: My car was old. I decided to buy a new car. My mechanic told me that Nissan and Hyundai were the brands that required the least maintenance. I wanted a "bottom-line" vehicle. Accent was too small. Versa was just right and had great gas MPG.
Melloy Nissan @ Albuquerque: I checked every Nissan dealer in New Mexico. Melloy Nisson had the most inventory and had outside and interior colors that I liked. I chose a 2012 Nissan Versa SV. Titanium outside with sandstone interior. I went from a 2002 vehicle with 140,000 miles to a brand new Versa and USAA dropped my six month insurance premium because the Versa has loads of safety features.
My Salesman: Zeke De La Rosa chose me to be his customer. Zeke was great! Zeke is the kind of buddy you want to go out and have a beer with after church! He explained everything and guided the process. I was never left out to dry. He was there from the start to the finish. The Versa I bought was spotless and ready to go. It even had a full tank of gas. Melloy Nissan is to be commended for their service!
Customer Service: I had a few questions after the purchase. Paula Ramos and Jenette Padilla called me numerous times and explained the complex mathematical algorisms used to determine the price of a Versa SV. This was post-graduate. Way above my doctorate, but I sincerely appreciate their efforts and commend Melloy Nissan for having such good employees.
Recommendation: 1.If you have a very used car, sell it yourself or give it to a charity. Used car trade-ins complicate the purchase process. 2. Use the web site only as a guide. Once the war (purchase) starts all plans go out the window. 3. Use Zeke.
4. Remember, no matter what happens, you are getting a very good vehicle!

Nissan Power Goes Global

Nissanpowergoesglobalsep14

SAO PAULO, Brazil – The FIA World Endurance Championship goes global this weekend as the teams leave Silverstone behind and head off to Sao Paulo in Brazil.  Round five of the championship is the 'Six Hours of Sao Paulo' and it takes place this Saturday at Interlagos.  Seven of the 11 LMP2 runners in Brazil will compete with Nissan engines and the competition is expected to be as fierce as ever.

The Interlagos track is known the world over as the home of the Brazilian Grand Prix.  It is a tricky circuit, running in an unusual anti-clockwise direction, and has many features that will challenge the WEC teams.

Signatech Nissan had a difficult race at Silverstone so the French team is motivated to leave this in the past and go on the attack in Brazil. For Nissan's GT Academy winner Jordan Tresson, this weekend will be a brand new experience.

"This is not only my first time at Interlagos but also the first time I have been to Brazil," said Jordan. "It's always exciting to race on the F1 tracks as you can feel the history at some of those places, especially here where so many world championships have been decided.

"In terms of the track itself it looks quite tricky," he continued. "It is a technical circuit so I have prepared a lot by spending time in the simulator and also watching a lot of in-car camera footage and studying data from the team.  I will also have a good look at the circuit on foot when I get there.  The other factors we need to prepare for are the likelihood of heavy rain showers but we can't predict that yet and of course the load on the other side of my neck with the anti-clockwise track."

Jordan is well aware that there will be a lot of work to do in Brazil. Unlike the European race tracks, Interlagos is relatively unknown to the teams so the free practice sessions should see a lot of track activity.

"As we don't race regularly at Interlagos we need to do a lot of work on different set ups when we arrive so the practice sessions will be very busy," he explained. "I think our car will be strong there but the Signatech Nissan team is a fast team that reacts quickly so that will also help us a lot. As usual it will be a tough fight against a vey strong field of LMP2 cars."

The Six Hours of Sao Paulo takes place this Saturday so the two 90-minute free practice sessions will get underway on Thursday at 11:00 and 15:30. There will be a further hour of practice on Friday morning before qualifying at 14:30 on Friday afternoon.  The race will get the green light at 12:00hrs on Saturday. (All times local, Sao Paulo is -5 hours CET)

Nissan-terra-suv-con_600x0w

PARIS – The Nissan TeRRA SUV concept, to be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on Sep 27, combines two outstanding Nissan strengths – SUVs and EVs – in a vehicle that is equally in its element off-road in the wild or gliding silently through a sophisticated urban setting.  With an innovative 4x4 fuel-cell electric powertrain and an athletic exterior that projects an unforgettable presence beyond its compact dimensions, TeRRA takes sustainable motoring into exciting new territory.

Nissan Prepares for British GT Showdown

96178_1_5

SILVERSTONE, UK – The scene has been set for a dramatic showdown in the 2012 British GT Championship with a group of cars all in with a shot at the title at the season-closer in three weeks' time.  This weekend's race at Silverstone produced a mixed result for many of the title contenders, not least the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 that finished in eighth place after a three-hour long battle at Silverstone.

The No.35 Nissan GT-R is still in third place in the championship but the scores are so close that the Donington race looks set to become a winner-takes-all event.

Even though it was Jann Mardenborough's 21st birthday last weekend, the young Nissan racer didn't get the winner's trophy this time out.  With many of the top runners receiving time penalties for various on-track misdemeanours, the No.35 Nissan GT-R wasn't left out and had a few too many trips to the 'naughty step'.

The weekend started well for the team and Jann qualified the GT-R in ninth place against the professional racers in the series.  His team-mate Alex Buncombe took the start and was up to third place by lap four and then took third just a couple of laps later.  It looked like they would be able to climb up the order and take a top result but then the penalties began to come.  The main issue was with drivers running too wide at Copse corner but that extra bit of tarmac was far too enticing for most of the cars on track today, one of which got caught out six times!

Unfortunately for the team the GT-R later developed an ABS problem and Jann had to do his final stint without ABS or traction control so he was very busy in the car.

"That final run was tough," said Jann. "It is what it is though so I just got stuck in and made the best of it.  We raced hard today and eighth place doesn't reflect the work that everyone put in. We will come back stronger at Donington and it looks like everything is still there for the taking so that is going to be an amazing event.  We're up for the fight and I think our competitors are too so if you were going to watch a British GT race this year make it the next one!"

"It was annoying to have the problems with the car and it was annoying to have the penalties," said team boss Bob Neville, summing up the day. "The good news is that our main opposition also struggled and we managed to score some points so there is still a championship title up for grabs."

The Donington round of the 2012 British GT Championship takes place on September 30.
