44 years and Still Rocking! Meet the Nissan Z car

I love all Nissan Vehicles!  Every day we hear about a new concept or model that Nissan is about to debut to the public.  One Nissan Vehicle, or shall I say series of vehicles that have always captured my imagination have always been the Nissan Z Car.  The Z car was originally produced in 1969 for the 1970 240z car model.
The Nissan 240z originally had a 2.4L inline 6 that produced 151 hp1970-Datsun-240Z-right-side

Restoring any classic z car can be a very rewarding process when the restoration is done right!  Especially the 240z car!  This version is the version in my mind that brings the most money on E-bay or internet auction sites!  I believe it’s the fact this the 240z is the first version of the z car that helps bring values up on this car!  Why do i know this?  Because we have restored a few classic z cars at Melloy Nissan!  When you find a original 240z car and take the time to redo the engine, interior, paint and body right it will pay off!  We have sold a few classic 240z car for around 14k when they are in mint condition.  I’ve seen many on ebay bring more than that!  Way more sometimes.  We have also restored a few 280z cars as well and sold them for around 8 thousand.  Just be sure that you use fine detail when you restore a classic vehicle, because that will pay off!  Restore is right and take your time. Just be sure you receive what you pay for when you purchase your 240z car!  If your looking to restore a z car and find one on ebay or craigslist you need to use common sense.  If the car is trashed and does not run bargain, and buy the car cheap!  If the car looks like it’s worth 500 dollars offer 500 dollars!  The main goal in any car restoration is to buy cheap and sell high.  So be patient and take your time when looking to restore your next classic car!  If anyone has any questions please feel free to call me because I know car values!  Same goes for car parts always look for a great deal!  If the car has rust it will be obvious and should sell for less.  Always remember reconditioning costs when you restore your vehicle.  If your going to put more money in your vehicle than it’s worth you should avoid buying the car.  Please call me if you have questions on any of this.  I’ll leave a link to my contact below!
There is a huge market for classic z car parts.  I know many friends who make a living off salvaging old z cars and selling the parts on ebay!  Scarcity does drive up prices!  All this adds up over time and can make or break you when you recondition you next Nissan Z car!  Contact our parts department if your in the market to recondition your Classic Nissan Z car!  We have reconditioned plenty of z cars though Melloy Nissans Parts Department, and are a quite successful at finding great parts at the best prices!

Nissan 260z was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only, but was available in other countries until 1978. The engine was enlarged over that of the 240Z with a longer stroke to 2.6 L.

The 280Z was released in 1975 in North America (not to be confused with the 280ZX, which is a second-generation Z-car) and featured another engine displacement enlargement to 2.8 L. A major change was the introduction of Bosch Fuel Injection, replacing the previous SU carburetors. This resulted in a power increase to 170 hp (127 kW), offsetting increased weight from added luxury features and an enlarged bumper that met US Federal regulations. Export markets outside North America continued to receive the Datsun 260Z until the introduction of the Datsun 280ZX at the end of 1978
See our Z Car Selections!  The 280 z also came in the 2+2 options as seen below

The 280ZX was wildly popular, being hailed as Motor trends Import car of the year for 1979 and going on to set a Z-car sales record of 86,007 units in its first year.[3]While on the one hand it received praise for taking the Z-car to further levels of comfort and performance, many enthusiasts also lamented the further emphasis on luxury over driving fun. This would continue with the third generation of Z-car, with a clean-sheet redesign that would take the Z-car to further heights.
Nissan_280ZX_Turbo

The Z-car was completely redesigned in 1984, and introduced Nissan’s new series of 3.0-liter!  This is also one of my favorite z cars! Then came your forth generation z car Z32 The only thing that remained unchanged from the previous generation 300ZX is the 3.0-liter v6 engine, now with dual overhead camshafts (DOHC), variable valve timing (VVT) and producing a rated 222 hp (166 kW) and 198 lb·ft (268 N·m) in naturally aspirated form1996-nissan-300zx-twinturbo-show-more-pictures_5ef2f

Now theres a large gap in our z car timeline!  Then in 2001 when Carlos Ghosn became CEO that he would tell reporters: “We will build the Z. And we will make it profitable.
In the summer of 2002, the 350Z was released to wide acclaim. It employed a slightly improved version of the 3.5-liter VQ35DE DOHC V6 engine found in multipleNissan cars at the time, including the Maxima and Pathfinder. This engine initially produced 287 bhp (214 kW) and 274 lb·ft (371 N·m) torque, but in 2005 was increased to 300 bhp (220 kW) and 260 lb·ft (353 N·m). Prices started at $26,000 US, well below the $30,000 mark initially set forth by Nissan. Coupled to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed automatic (the automatic lost 13 bhp (9.7 kW) in comparison), it was initially available only as a 2-seater hardtop. A convertible model was later introduced in 2004.

Who else shares a passion for dirt over pavement? I personally like my Nissan More when it's covered in Mud!!

Nothing screams off-roading, getting the Nissan Dirty as much as warm summer weather! All over New Mexico you'll find great places to take your vehicle off-roading!  I personally love beaver town just south of central as you head towards Edgewood!  Heck even Elephant butte offers fun off-road challenges for my Nissan Frontier!  Just be sure to avoid the Rangers because lately they hate people off-roading in Beaver town!  There are so many companies that offer off-road lift kits for Nissan Vehicles!  My personal favorite brand is Calmini!  Calmini builds lift kits for all tastes!  Visit there website to learn more!  Below is my personal favorite lift by Calmini.  It's the solid front axel swap for Nissan Frontier and Xterra!

PSA: The colder it gets, the more your tire's inflation will drop

Cold weather means a flatter tire
Winter is here, and tire pressure is something you want at the forefront of your mind during this season.

Why? Simply put, winter's lower temperatures cause the air pressure in a cold tire to drop.  When that happens, the tire shrink. I know you might be thinking that objects usually expand when cooled, but remember that your tires are filled with air (a gas), so they will instead contract.

The rule of thumb is that for every change in 10 degrees (Fahrenheit), your tire's inflation will drop by about 1 PSI. So, fill up those tires, folks!
